About
Forever associated with Focus and their role in forging technical progressive death metal, Cynic have spent decades pushing beyond genre boundaries through fluid jazz-fusion influence, airy vocoder-treated vocals and remarkably intricate musicianship. Whether on Focus or the reimagined ReFocus, their music favors exploration over aggression alone, balancing dazzling fretwork and complex arrangements with a sense of spirituality and melodic grace rare in extreme metal.
