Bio
Sigurd Wongraven, better known as Satyr, is the founder, vocalist, guitarist, and primary songwriter of Satyricon, as well as one of the most influential figures to emerge from the Norwegian black metal movement of the early 1990s. Known for combining artistic ambition with strong visual identity and genre-defining songwriting, Satyr helped evolve black metal from raw underground extremity into a broader and more atmospheric form of dark metal without losing its authenticity.
Beyond music, he is also recognized as a producer, entrepreneur, and wine creator, but remains most respected for shaping Satyricon into one of black metal’s most distinctive and internationally influential bands.
